child care subsidy

What is subsidy? The following are excerpts taken directly from the Government of Alberta website which contain information related to what subsidy is, who is eligible for it, and how those who are eligible can go about applying to receive it. Below this information, you can find both an online estimator and application for subsidy as well.

overview

Eligible lower- to middle-income families can apply for child care subsidies if they have a child enrolled in:

- licensed daycare centers

- when your child started or when they will start attending care.

estimate subsidy

The Government of Alberta now offers an online estimator tool created to allow families a quick and easy way to find out the approximate amount of their subsidy. The estimator calculates potential subsidy for families who require full-time child care (100+ hours per month.) This service is only an estimate of your eligibility to receive Child Care Subsidy and results of the estimator do not mean automatic approval or denial of an application for Child Care Subsidy. You can access this estimator by clicking on the “online estimator” button below.

online application

An online application for subsidy has also been made available through the Government website, which is called the Child Care Subsidy Application and which can be accessed using a computer, tablet, or mobile phone. Before applying, you are encouraged to read over the eligibility requirements (which we have provided above) as well as to read through all of the listed sections to ensure that you understand what happens after you apply. You can access this application by clicking on the “apply for subsidy” button below.
